Chiang Kai-Shek Airport (TPE)
BEST WAY DOWNTOWN: Airport Shuttle

BASICS
The airport is 25 miles (40 km) southwest of the center of Taipei. A tourist information desk is in the arrivals area and is open from 7 A.M. to around 9 P.M.

TAXI
Metered taxis are available. The fare to the center of the city is about 18-20 Taiwan dollar ($14-15). Travel time is about 15 to 30 minutes.

AIRPORT SHUTTLE
The Taiwan Bus Comapny leaves from the front of the terminal every 15 to 30 minutes from 6:30 A.M.-10:30 P.M. There are two routes to Taipei, so be sure to look at the signs at the bus stop that explain where each bus goes and at which hotels it stops.

One route ends at the central train station, and the other ends at the Sungshan Domestic Airport. If the bus doesn't stop at your hotel, you can go the train station and take a taxi to your final destination. The fare is about 115 Taiwan dollar ($3).

RENTAL CAR
Many of the worldwide car rental companies are represented in Taipei, along with many local companies. If you are only doing business in the city, renting a car is not advisable. There are plenty of taxis, and driving in the crush of traffic is not for the faint of heart.
