BEST WAY DOWNTOWN:Bus
Newark is located 16 miles (26 km) southwest of Mid-Manhattan and a mile (1.6 km) south of Newark, New Jersey. There are Ground Transportation Counters near baggage claim in each terminal. In the U.S., call 1-800-AIR-RIDE for latest ground travel information.
Use the taxi dispatcher or an official bus service. Do not accept unsolicited rides or help with your baggage.

Go out to the taxi stand outside the baggage claims area at curbside. Give your destination to the dispatcher and he will direct you to the correct taxi. The fares are metered, but don't include toll or tip. The fare to mid-Manhattan should be $34-$51. The journey will probably take 25 to 45 minutes.
Olympia Trails Company
Olympia Trails Bus Company leaves from the bus courtyard and has Manhattan bound buses going to the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street, Grand Central Station on the corner of Lexington Avenue and 41st Street, Penn Station on the corner of 34th Street and 8th Avenue, and the World Trade Center at West Street next to the Marriot Hotel. The fare for the Olympia bus is $10 each way. Tickets can be purchased from the Olympia Trails Ticket Agent at the ground transportation counter located between doors 2 and 3 on the arrivals level of each terminal. It is also possible to buy tickets from the driver.
Midtown Manhattan Stops
Buses leave for Penn Station, Grand Central Station and Port Authority from 5 A.M. to 7 A.M. every thirty minutes. From 7 A.M. to 11:30 P.M. the buses leave every fifteen to twenty minutes. The last bus leaves at midnight. Travel time is 35 to 40 minutes but may vary due to traffic.
The bus to the Newark Airport picks up at the following locations:
- Port Authority: 3rd Floor of the station, gates 317 and 318
- 120 East 41st Street (at the corner of Lexington Avenue and 41st)
Buses leave for the World Trade Center Monday thru Friday at 6:45 A.M. to 8:45 P.M. every thirty minutes at fifteen minutes past the hour. On Saturdays buses leave at 7:15 A.M. to 8:15 P.M. every thirty minutes at fifteen minutes past the hour. On Sundays the buses leave from 7:15 A.M. to 10:45 P.M. every thirty minutes at fifteen past the hour. The ride is approximately 20 to 30 minutes but may vary due to traffic. The bus to the airport leaves from 1 World Trade Center at the corner of West Street.
New Jersey Transit's Airlink bus (number 302) goes to Penn Station in Newark. From there you can catch a PATH or Amtrak train to New York or to many other destinations. PATH trains run 24 hours a day and make local stops to the World Trade Center. Amtrak trains are more expensive and go directly to Penn Station.
Airlink buses leave each Newark terminal every 20 to 30 minutes for the 15- to 30-minute journey. The fare is $4 and you'll need exact change.

Several companies operate from Newark, including Airport Limo Express (1-800-624-4410), Carmel Car and Limo (1-800-924-9954), Dial Car (1-800-342-5106), and Skyline Credit Ride (1-800-533-6325). You can book in advance or call them from phones at the Ground Transportation Desk.
Limos are more expensive than a taxi. A typical fare to the Marriott Marquis Hotel, near Times Square, would be $50 plus tolls and tip.
